When Silence Becomes Betrayal
The followers of Imam Ali were once known for wisdom and deep understanding. What has happened to us that our vision has dimmed, and our thinking has been reduced to the level of the ordinary? What should be the conduct of our community today? We see with our own eyes sacred traditions being reshaped, and even the remembrance of Imam Hussain being altered. Shall we stand silent and allow these changes to pass unopposed?
Silence in the face of distortion is not the way of the wise, nor the path of the elders. Our duty is to preserve the essence of faith and to guard the sanctity of Imam Hussain’s sacrifice. If truth is not spoken by us, then falsehood will find its voice in others.

Hazrat Ali (peace be upon him) reminds us that the responsibility of the learned and the elders is to uphold Amr bil Ma’ruf wa Nahy anil Munkar, to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. My friend, ask yourself: do you fall into one of these categories? If you cannot answer now, know that on the Day of Judgment, you will be questioned, whether prepared or not. On that day, even your own limbs will testify against you and me. To remain silent while innovations spread is not neutrality, it is betrayal. Betrayal of Allah, of His Messenger, and of the sacred blood of Imam Hussain, which was shed in defense of truth.

Let us therefore rise with wisdom, sincerity, and courage, not with the sword, but with clarity of thought and purity of intention. Let us protect the soul of mourning from becoming mere ritual or display. This is our trust, and this is our duty.
If each member of the community shared wisdom and insight to strengthen the foundations of their centers and masajid, it would bring clarity and guidance to all. Imam would indeed appreciate such efforts. But the question remains: what actions must our community take to reclaim the honor and status that have been lost? It is not through silence or negligence, but through sincerity, unity, and steadfastness in truth that dignity is restored.
Everything looks good in its intended place. It is not our duty to elevate or demote it. It is the duty of Allah. It is the duty of the Prophet. It is the duty of the Imam.
Sometimes we place great honor on Imam Hussain’s Zuljanah, yet we neglect to give due recognition to his noble actions. We become absorbed in the symbols along the path but forget the mission itself. Our true responsibility is not to stop at the roadway landmarks, but to strive toward the higher purpose for which Imam Hussain sacrificed his life.
[7:38] Allah will say, “Enter the Fire among the nations of jinn and humans who have passed away before you.” Every time a nation enters, it will curse its sister nation, until when they all have followed one another therein, the last of them will say about the first of them, “Our Lord, these are the ones who misled us, so give them a double punishment of the Fire.” He will say, “For each one is double, but you do not know.”
